My dear ones,
With the same emotion with which I began this journey a few years ago, I warmly invite you to the 4th edition of the International Salbek Opera Masterclass, which will take place from August 18–23, 2026, at Salbek Castle.
As I look back, I realize how much this project has grown, almost without my noticing. From a personal dream, it has become an annual gathering of talented, courageous, and dedicated young artists who come here to learn, to search, and to discover themselves. For me, Salbek has become, during these summer days, a home for voices and for the stories they carry.
This year, we are once again honored to welcome artists whom I admire not only for their remarkable careers, but also for their generosity: soprano Leontina Văduva, mezzo-soprano Ruxandra Donose, and tenor Ramón Vargas. For the participants, their presence means more than lessons in technique and style. It offers genuine, human encounters with artists who have faced the same questions and shared the same beginnings.
As always, we aim to create a serious and sincere working environment, where every young musician feels heard, supported, and encouraged to be fully themselves. I believe this is where everything truly begins.
At the end of the masterclass, we will meet the public at the Salbek Opera Festival Gala, on the esplanade in front of Arad City Hall – a concert under the starry sky that brings together participants, mentors, and the community. This year’s special guest is the young and talented soprano Paula Iancic, who will perform alongside the students and masters. It is the moment when the work of these days finds its voice and returns, simply and directly, to the people.
If you feel that your path leads you here, we will welcome you with open hearts. Salbek remains a place of true encounters, of growth, and of the courage to keep dreaming.
